St. Louis Schools Superintendent Kelvin Adams spoke of what would happen to his school district if Judge David Lee Vincent rules in favor of the Missouri’s school transfer law. “Progress stops immediately,” Adams said. The gains the district has made would likely be lost.
In the last three years, students in the SLPS district have made slow and steady gains in all academic areas on the Missouri Assessment Program. Overall attendance and graduation percentages are improving and the district is one point away from reaccreditation, but the Missouri Board of Education has final say.
It’s been five years since Turner vs. School District of Clayton was decided, its been appealed, sent back to Vincents courtroom and now reconsidered. It is up to Judge David Lee Vincent for the second time to make the right decision. Now we wait for his ruling.
