The new Steven Spielberg movie titled Lincoln has Oscar worthy performances by Daniel Day Lewis as the story telling orator Abraham Lincoln, and Sally Field as his wife Mary Todd Lincoln. As the Civil War continues to rage, America’s president struggles with continuing carnage on the battlefield, while fighting with many inside his own cabinet on the decision to emancipate the slaves.
Today, Spielberg gave a speech in Gettysburg, the same date President Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address-Nov. 19, 1863. Spielberg dedicated a national cemetery at the site of the Civil War battlefield in Pennsylvania.
The movie opened this week and came in third at the box office. This will be a top choice of movies to see with the family this holiday season.
