SLU Smash’s Tennessee – Martin 73-51

 Saturday at the Chaifetz  the Saint Louis University Billikens were out to prove last years tournament invite was no fluke. Even with Rick Majerus out of  the lineup the Bills took a 17-point halftime lead over Tennessee Martin shooting  58.6 percent, beating them  73 – 51 and improving to 6 – 3 on the young season.

 The  SLU student body took it upon themselves chanting  “Catholic Conference”  to let SLU president Rev. Lawrence Biondi know where they stand about the rumors  that seven Catholic non-football playing teams in the Big East  leaving the league, and maybe SLU should have the same thought, as reported by the Post Dispatch.

With the possibility of SLU moving to the New Big East there is a up side why the Bills will be invited, the potential of better league deals such as  TV market size and the surge of winning seasons the  past few years. The consensus appears  the Bills would love to be in a league with Depaul & Marquette and athletic director Chris May will have power to make the right call. May remains stern with the right answer ” proud to be in the atlantic 10,” but will be watching and waiting.
